Hotel Industry Entrepreneur Bharat Lall
Born of humble means in what is now Malawi, Bharat Lall today is a successful hospitality industry executive based in San Diego, California. As the president and CEO of Pinnacle Hotels USA, Bharat Lall focuses on the purchase, management, and sale of hotel investment properties in the United States.
Lall began his career in hospitality management in the late 1980s after securing a $200,000 loan to purchase the 12-unit Holiday Motel on Coronado Island in San Diego, California. By 1993, he had formed a new business venture with a pair of friends aimed at acquiring underperforming hospitality properties in Southern California. Under his leadership, the group purchased, renovated, and rebranded 35 hotels in just three years. In 1998, Lall founded Pinnacle Hotels USA, assuming the role of co-owner.
In the ensuing two decades, Lall has applied his leadership skills to grow Pinnacle Hotels USA into a company of over 650 employees that generates $75 million in annual revenue. The group today oversees the management of nine hotels across the states of California and Texas, many of which operate under such recognizable brands as Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt. Each location managed by Pinnacle Hotels USA is guided by the firm’s core values of teamwork, quality, leadership, professionalism, integrity, and appreciation.
Prior to his work as an executive in the hospitality and commercial real estate industries, Lall earned a medical degree from the University of Glasgow in Scotland. After his immigration to the United States in 1980, he became a family physician at Kaiser Hospital in San Diego, California, and continued to see patients for several years as he built his hospitality management company. He ultimately left medicine in 1992 to give his full attention to his career in hotel investment.
